Brief:

IMDb (Internet Movie Database) is the world’s most popular and authoritative source for movie, TV, and celebrity information. In creating this rebrand, I was inspired by the different aspect ratios used to present films in cinemas today. I want to create an accurate and reliable environment for international film enthusiasts and industry professionals, offering them an enlightened and enriched user experience.

Graphic Elements:

Three different aspect ratios as a starting point, the graphic proposal explores its different meanings and uses them to generate a system of graphic elements. It symbolizes the flexibility and creativity.

Image Treatments:

I was inspired by a filmmaking technique called “film blocking.” Blocking a scene is simply “working out the details of an actor’s moves in relation to the camera.”

You can also think of blocking as the choreography of a dance or a ballet: all the elements on the set (actors, extras, vehicles, crew, equipment) should move in perfect harmony with each other.

New Rating System:

A transparent and rigorous evaluation system implemented by experienced, world-renowned professionals. Fairness is key when evaluating each movie. For that reason, I created a new evaluation system for critics based on four criteria: Structure, cinematography, symbolism, and sound.

Website:

Restructured the website into six sections: IMDBrief, Top List, Casting Calls, IMDB News, Awards, and Top Reviews from real film critics.

A customized film detail page offers a truly immersive user experience that tells a story. The reviews section is separated into three parts: Critics’ reviews, the new rating scores, and user reviews.

App:

IMDB App offers daily recommendation cards that introduce the top three viewed movies created by users.

Video Editing:

IMDB wants to cultivate and promote the art and technique of filmmaking through social media and cross-cultural awareness.

IMDB Film Festival:

IMDB will have its own film festival, including red carpet premiere events, meetups, interviews, advance member screenings, and more.
